Architecture

The St. Regis Kanai Resort, Riviera Maya

Drawing inspiration from the Mayan cosmological concept of three realms of existence: the Earthly World, the sacred Underworld, and the Celestial World, Michael Edmonds “pulled down the stars” from Pleiades—an open cluster in the constellation Taurus—to compose the layout of circular buildings seemingly hovering atop the mangrove and comprising The St. Regis Kanai Resort, Riviera Maya.

Landscaping

Nestled into and, combined, occupying only ten percent of the 680-acre parcel of land that encompasses the Kanai property, Etéreo, Auberge Resorts Collection, The St. Regis Kanai Resort, Riviera Maya and The Riviera Maya EDITION at Kanai are made even more sublime not only by their lush surroundings, but by the artful landscape design of Madison Cox and EDSA, which pulls the surrounding flora around and inward to complement the architecture and interior design, to permeate indoor and outdoor spaces throughout the destination, and to form myriad connections between human and nature.

Art

Etéreo, Auberge Resorts Collection

Works of art and artisanship enhance interior and exterior moments throughout the Kanai complex. In addition to Manuel Felguérez's works at Etéreo, Auberge Resorts Collection, the resort also features a hanging woven rope sculpture by artist Marcela Diaz and a massive steel-and-glass Hector Esrawe sculpture, as well as furniture and objects by local artisans.
