Out of profound respect for the sacred land on which the destination is located, the Kanai visionaries took great care in conscientiously designing and building this singular destination, situated amid a 680-acre property encompassing beaches, mangrove, and jungle. They are continuously mindful of and committed to their ongoing duty to maintain and protect the local flora and fauna and they engage full-time, on-site biologists to lead in these efforts which include flora preservation, fauna conservation, wildlife security measures, waste management, environmental monitoring, and staff education.

Conservation

Kanai prioritizes environmental conservation. The destination was designed and built to occupy a mere ten percent of the centuries-old, 680-acre parcel of land upon which it is situated. 365-days-a-year, the reef, shoreline, mangrove and jungle—as well as the wildlife that inhabit them—are maintained and cared for by experts.

Sustainability

In addition to Kanai’s minimized architectural footprint, waste is reduced in all functions and practices, including on-site water desalinization, purification and bottling in reusable glass and metal containers. Produce, seafood and meat are ethically sourced and procured from as many local, sustainable producers and purveyors as possible. Additionally, the Kanai resorts use low-energy-consumption lighting.
